More Chapter 11

More Chapter 11      Refreshed and cleansed, after her long journey, Katarina went out through the western gate a few hours before the sun went down over the north shore, where Queen Odessa was holding court in her Royal tent. Here Katarina noticed two massive ships, their hulls resting on the sands of the long beach, not only were they remarkable in size but she had never seen ships with two masts, one in the center and the other at the front of the vessels, this second mast gave the Etruscan ships great speed upon the water and were, at the time, the fastest sailing vessels upon the mighty oceans. There on the decks of the ships a few of the crew members were busy escorting a dozen or so Themiscryan warriors around, showing off for the ladies, a few of whom smiled and waved down at Katarina, who steadied her nerves as she approached the Royal tent as two of her Elite Guard stood at the entrance, they bid her hail and let her pass announcing to the Queen, and her honored guests "Queen Odessa, Captain Katarina has returned from her mission and wishes to see you."
"Enter my Captain, come rest yourself among us, tell us of your journey." Odessa spoke with elation in her voice with the joy of light in her eyes. The large space was filled with long couches where the Etruscan males and Themiscyran females reclined together with one another eating figs and dates, drinking Etruscan wine. The room was dimly lit, the air smokey and cool with a pungent aroma Katarina was not accustomed to, for Prince Thane enjoyed lighting up little golden blond cubes of hashish from North Africa allowing it to smolder up like incense, for he and his men found the effects of the potent stuff very calmative on their bodies and minds.
Katarina beheld Odessa arrayed in gifts of exquisite gold jewelry from the Prince "My Queen! I bid you hail! May the gods be praised I have returned home safely once more to find you as radiant and beautiful as Aphrodite herself." Katarina said as she went over to Odessa kneeling before her.
"Arise my faithful servant and give your loving Queen a kiss." Odessa said happy to see the face of her friend and loyal subject. With a soft little kiss on the mouth Odessa embraced Katarina, who let out a deep sigh of relief feeling safe, cared for and loved in the arms of her treasured Queen. "You must sit and drink the wine which Prince Thane has brought all the way here from across the raging seas. I tell you Katarina it is, by far, the best wine I have ever tasted." A cup was poured out for her to taste by one of Odessa's maidens and Katarina felt the warmth of the red liquid on her tongue tasting of cherry bark and oak, with flora notes of jasmine, lavender and honey. Surely the Etruscan's were mere mortals but they made wine fit for the gods of Olympus. "Now you must be careful not to drink too much, for it is as delicious, as it is potent. Just like you, Prince Thane!" Odessa said with a little laugh and a wink of her eye over at Prince Thane who stared up at the ravishing Queen as he was thinking about her naked skin. "Gentleman, my handsome Prince Thane.., may I present to you all gathered here," she said to the six men and her ladies, whom Katarina knew well "My Captain of the Elite Guard, Katarina, newly returned from Greece.., bearing good news.., I trust." Odessa smiled and waited for her to respond, but Katarina only stood there in silence.
Then, after a brief moment of rapid heartbeats and sweaty palms, Katarina spoke "My Queen.., all is well with the Peace Accord between our Great Nation and Sparta, King Vyakles and Queen Thera bid you greetings of Love and Salutations." Katarina paused then said "I have just come from your palace where I have turned over all the documents, and maps, you have requested to your Diplomatic Corps, Councilor Cheveria met with me and suggested I come out to relax here among you, and your most gracious guests, to de-stress my mind and body after my long, arduous journey."
"Excellent news Captain, well done, well done." Odessa congratulated her on her mission accomplished. "And what of my other Captains.., Lacuna and Lucia Vega.., shall they come out and relax with us, as well?"
Katarina remained calm not wanting to let on to the Etruscan's that something was terribly wrong, so she began to cough loudly, telling Odessa the acrid smoke hurt her lungs and burned her eyes, a lie, "May we go outside for a bit of fresh air?" I will tell you all, out there. For it is difficult to breathe in this atmosphere."
"Very well, I too feel a bit lighted headed but that, I can assure you, has been caused by my sweet Prince Thane." Odessa turned and gave the dark-eyed, half naked, foreign man a long passionate kiss, her lips red and wet, sweet with wine and honey.
"I shall wait right here for you my stunning Odessa, thinking in my mind of all the things I will do to you tonight, when you are lying next to me in your bed." he smiled with all the confidence of a man who has scaled the highest mountain, for he and Odessa had already become very well acquainted and the Etruscan Prince wanted more of her mouth and soft skin.

Chapter 11 continues

Chapter 11 continues    Now it was a long hard ride back east through the mountains of the Peloponnese then up north through Illyria where, to steer clear of Macedon and Thrace, Katarina and the Elite Guard sailed along the Danube in a large river boat provided by the King of Illyria, who was still friendly to the Nation of Themiscyra. With a brief stop in Scythia to rest for one night Katarina and her Elite Guard made a safe crossing at the Dinieper river then, shortly thereafter, they made an arduous journey south at the base of the Eurasia Steppes when at long last they found themselves at the north gate of their walled empire. They were home, tired and exhausted as the secret sign was given up to the sentinels then the massive wooden and iron gates were opened up to Katarina and her women, whom all were relieved to be safe at home once again but they were not looking forward to relaying the terrible news to the Queen.
"We must go to the palace at once! Though we are weary from riding in the saddle, we must present ourselves before Queen Odessa and tell her all we have seen." Katarina commanded knowing they had failed the mission having had lost Captain Lacuna and Captain Lucia Vega to the Spartan ideals of marriage, family and freedom. None were looking forward to seeing Odessa's face when she learned the news of losing her two brightest and bravest military leaders. However, upon entering the palace in the center of the city, Katarina found Odessa was not in residence at the palace that day. Now when the little group entered the great hall they found the space was filled to capacity with all manners of tall painted vases, life size statues of horses and lions, of such a high order of artistry the likes of which no one in Themiscyra had ever seen. The realistic representation of the nude figures on the massive vases and amphora were the finest quality of art their amazed eyes had ever beheld, they had seen works of art from as far away as Egypt, Israel and Babylon, but nothing could compare to these wondrous sculptures, paintings and vases, however there was more treasure in store than this. For they found Cheveria sitting at the long council table with a few young scribes who were examining long ropes of gold chains and carved boxes of alabaster inlaid with emeralds and rubies. There upon the table were broaches, earrings , necklaces, rings of silver and gold, bracelets of twisted intricate gold, strands of rare pearls as long as an arm, and it took a moment before Cheveria noticed the dust covered Elite Guard standing in awe in the midst of such other worldly treasure.
"Councilor Cheveria!" Katarina called out as the old War Councilor looked up from the jewel in her hand, a large unpolished sapphire the size of robins egg. "We have returned from Sparta and wish to impart the news of our long journey to the Queen!"
"Katarina!" the old warrior exclaimed as she smiled standing to her feet to welcome home the Elite Guard and their Captain. "Praise be to Hera you have all returned safe from your adventure." she said as she went over embracing the five women. "But now.., tell me.., where are the others? Lacuna and Lucia Vega?" the long serving Councilor of War asked with a terrible feeling of foreboding creeping up her spine.
"They refused to return home." Katarina said plainly "What is worse, they have become impregnated with Spartan seed and now wish only to take their lovers as their husbands and together, in Sparta, raise a family."
Now as the words of Katarina's mouth spilled into the old woman's ears she gave a confused look as if she was not sure if she heard clearly so she stammered "What's that? Come again."
"Lacuna and Lucia Vega, have put down their swords and taken up their breeding partners hand in marriage..," Katarina sighed with great distress in her eyes. "They have vowed never to return to war for the sake of Themiscyra, they have taken up their allegiance with Thera and the the Greeks."
Now their they stood, the Elite Guard watched and waited, they could see the anger rise up in Cheveria's face with the sudden realization that her daughter Odessa had been betrayed! Yet again! Yet again! The anger and exasperation which coiled up in her heart like a viper that day led her to act in the following way. "Betrayed! What traitors!" she exclaimed as she took the stone in her hand, not thinking just how rare and precious it actually was, throwing it as hard as she could upon the marble floor where it smashed into little pieces. "How could you let this happen Captain!? You were responsible for their safety and well being, and that includes their safe passage back home! Back home to their Nation! Back home to their Queen!" Cheveria yelled indignantly, the anger and rage not dulled by her old age.
"We could not force them to go! The Spartan King and his vast army would have cut us up into red ribbons if we tried to abduct them and bring them home! No! Cheveria..," Katarina spoke softly with a great love and abiding kindness in her eyes "You yourself, if you were there, would have not been able to turn their minds from the path they chose. Cheveria, this has broken my heart and left my mind in a whirlwind, in a fiery rampage of vengeful hate.., but I made a promise to both of them, along with Thera and Vyakles.., I swore to them there would come a day when they would have a high price to pay for turning so many against this nation and our one true Queen!" Katarina took in a breath so filled with animosity was she. "Tell me, Councilor, where may we find her, Odessa must know of this at once of this treachery, before I retire to my bed and take my leave?"
"Ah, the Queen." Cheveria tried to calm her breath along with the rush of disturbed emotions swirling in her mind "She has set up her Royal Tent on the North Shore, outside the gates.., she is.., entertaining."
"Who?" Katarina asked with a concerned curious tone in her voice.
"Prince Thane of Etruria, and his Etruscan warriors.., why look around you, these are his many gifts he has bestowed upon our beloved Queen." Cheveria smiled as if the horde were her own dowry. "They came with ten ships full of grains, livestock and wine for the good of the people.., but these wondrous works of art were brought expressly for my daughter.., the Queen" Cheveria said proudly "So it was, Odessa invited Prince Thane, along with fifty of his finest warriors, along with two of their ships to remain, so they might begin the breeding season between our two nations early, before the spring." she explained and even though this was highly unusual in the customs of their society  Katarina said nothing of her misgivings, for she was not in charge of the Nation, she was only a Captain, and not the Queen.
"Then allow me to depart so I may go out to her at once." Katarina said with a slight bow.
"Oh no Katarina!" the old woman shook her head "Not like this.., look at you, covered in dust and dirt from your long journey home, dressed in your battle armament, sword at your side. No.., if you wish to go and meet Queen Odessa and her most favored guests.., you must first retire to your bath, wash your body, wax the hair from your skin, put on your lotions, balms and perfumes, comb out your long hair, put on a flowing silk dress and then you can go out to see her. For you will be amid the breeding festivities, you must not go dressed as a warrior, but as the beautiful maiden you are.., and if you are in the mood, you might want to take out some of your pent up frustrations and hostilities on one of the strong Etruscan men, I have heard there is much satisfaction to be gained in their beds." Cheveria said with a little laugh, a nudge, a wink and a smile "There will be plenty of time to decided what to do about those traitorous women.., Lacuna and Lucia Vega." Cheveria said and Katarina gave her a knowing look then she dismissed the Elite Guard under her command and departed to her little house where she prepared for herself a nice cool fragrant bath where soaking in the jasmine scented water, for just a few moments, the road weary Katarina was able to relax and forget about the past.

Chapter 11 begins

Chapter 11 begins     So it was on the morrow Katarina and the Elite Guard were summoned from their little encampment outside of the city before the King and Queen of Sparta. With dawn's early light filling the dark corners of the Great Hall Katarina and her women were surprised to see Johanna, Katara, Jessa, Scotia, Iona, La Scoffa, Ia, Kayla, and Amarra standing on either side of them as they approached the thrones of Vyakles and Thera, who sat gazing down upon the proceedings looking like two golden, noble lions at their seat of power and authority. Now it seemed strange for Katarina to find Lacuna and Lucia Vega standing to the right of the Queen up on the dais and each had a look of distress the likes of which Kataraina had never seen but soon she would come to know the truth.
"Queen Thera, King Vyakles..," Katrina said with a slight bow of respect "to what do we owe this honor of being called before you, upon this.., our last day here in your country?"
"You all have been called here on a matter of great importance." Thera paused as her pulse quickened her mouth felt as dry as the sands of the Saharan desert for well she knew this would not go down well. "It has been brought to our attention that Lacuna and Lucia Vega are now.., with child." Thera paused to let this information settle over the buds of Katarina's mind.
Here Katarina only let out a sigh shaking her head as she said "Well.., I suppose that is to be expected as they have spent all their days and nights together with your Spartan men.., who are rumored to be as fertile as the Crescent Valley." Katarina laughed along with Vyakles then added "Then we shall depart early, I  promise you, Lacuna.., Lucia.., that I shall ensure your journey is as comfortable for you, and your unborn, we will have you all, safe and sound back in Themiscyra in five days ride."
Lacuna gave up a serious look to her countenance and she looked down at Katarina stating plainly "We will not be returning home, with you."
Confused Katarina asked "Well, if not with us.., then with who?"
"No, no one, we will not be going home, now, or ever." Lucia Vega said trying to make the situation a little bit clearer.
"What is this?" Katarina said her face and chest turning a scarlet shade of red. "I do not understand. You must return for you both have been so ordered by your Queen!"
"We will live here in Sparta and serve our ONE TRUE Queen.., Queen Thera!" Lacuna said loudly with great pride in her voice which did Thera's heart good to hear, but the Captain of the Elite Guards heart filled up with malice.
"Your ONE TRUE QUEEN, Odessa, awaits your return! What you speak of is blasphemy!" Katarina began fuming in front of King Vyakles and those gathered together in his court. "What of your Unity? Your Loyalty? Your Respect? Your Honor!? NO! This will not do! What of the legions of troops under your command!? Lacuna you are the Captain of Cavalry, what of your Regiments!? Lucia Vega, what of your Infantry, your vast divisions? How can you abandon our war machine?"
"We have our second in command, let them lead the troops into war! I will fight no more! I will put down my sword and be a warrior NO MORE! I will be a MOTHER, to this child growing inside of me. I will be a wife and mother.., nothing more!" Lucia Vega shouted at Katarina who stood before the throne of Sparta with a look of uncertain disbelief mixed with rage.
"WIFE?!" Katarina spit out the word like it was poison in her mouth "You intended to take a husband in marriage?"
"Yes." the two defiant women replied in unison and it was here that Katarina now noticed Admiral Vasha and General La Quint standing to the left of the King, who sat there with his dark eyes fixed upon Katarina like a sharp-eyed hawk eyeing its prey.
"You see what you have done Thera!" Katarina turned focusing her venomous anger on the Queen "By your actions they have learned from your behavior.., as you have betrayed your former nation, so too they..,  Thera! So too they! Now I must return to MY QUEEN and proclaim before all the people that you! Lacuna! Lucia Vega! You will be bringing a great shame upon our nation! If you both choose to remain here in Sparta and marry your.., men, take your lovers as your husbands..,, then I tell you this.., the Peace between our Nations can NOT exist!" Katarina glared up at the women then took two steps towards them as she stood upon the dais herself, coming eye to eye with the two traitorous women telling them "You both have filled my heart and mind with furious anger this very morning, and I can only imagine the hatred and rage that will spew forth from Odessa like lava pouring down a mountain when she hears the news!. You disgust me with your behavior and your actions! This is a mistake! You shall come to regret this someday!"
"Hold your tongue Katarina! Lest I be forced to rip it out!" Lucia Vega shouted vehemently.
"If you two were not with child at this moment in time.., I would love to smash your face in!" Katarina spit back her reply like a viper.
"That is ENOUGH!" King Vyakles yelled as he stood from his throne going over to Katarina with a voice as loud as thunder "You come into my court and threaten my citizens! You had best believe I will not abide by your verbal tirade! This is my court! This is my Kingdom! This is Sparta! These women will have their freedom! You shall not castigate them any further with the words of your mouth! So you! Katarina! Captain of the Elite Guard! Go! Gather your things, remove yourself from my country! GO BACK to your Queen!" Vyakles said trying to catch his breath so engulfed in indignation was he. "And you had better be quick about your departure before I turn my mind from Peace to War between our two Nations!" Vyakles gave Katarina a look as cruel as the grave, his heart racing his blood pulsing through his veins, his dark eyes set upon Katarina's face.
"I will gladly take my leave from this den of iniquity!" Katarina shouted back at the King. "I will tell my most honorable Queen Odessa all that has transpired here this day, but you had better best believe me when I tell you Vyakles.., Thera.., for you have betrayed Odessa once again.., there WILL be a price to pay someday." Katarina gave Lacuna and Lucia Vega one more last look of contemptuous disdain then Captain Katarina and the Elite Guard stormed out of the Great Hall in an even greater hurry to return to Themiscyra  just as fast as they could ride.

End Chapter 10

End Chapter 10         "Vasha.., La Quint..," Vyakles said sitting upon his throne in the Great Hall in the middle of a cool night as the couples stood before him. "My Queen has informed me of this.., unique situation.., though I must ask.., do you both know why my wife and I have called you from your warm beds?"
"Aye my lord!" La Quint said proudly. "I believe my seed has become fruitful in Lucia Vega's womb. Vasha also believes Lacuna to be with his child."
"It is true my King, and Queen!" Vasha said with such a glorious look of satisfaction his old friend Vyakles had never seen.
"We are delighted you both are so pleased." Thera said feeling this would go well. "Now the laws of citizenship are quite clear, here in Sparta, you are all well aware of the path you must travel, together, will lead you to marriage, and here in Sparta, my brave ladies.., the only way out of marriage is death." Thera paused here for dramatic effect. "So you must all speak truthfully! Is this the true matrimonial path you wish to journey down, for the rest of your lives.., together?"
"Allow me to answer first, my noble Queen." Vasha said interceding.
"Oh Vasha.., do not answer my question as I sit here, as your Queen, but rather, speak to me as you would your friend." Thera smiled "For that is.., if you will remember, what I truly am. For you have become like a beloved brother unto me, which I myself have never had. You stayed with me on that far-off island, for three years, providing shelter and protection for my children and my ladies, the Mothers of the Sons of Sparta. You sat with me all the live long days, listening to my tales of triumph and woe, my words like a hurt birds complaint.., you have spoken to me the history of your people, your life full of memories of home and war upon the waters, you have shared with me the hopes and dreams of your mind. You and I are the closest companions in friendship. You know the meaning of my heart and so I know you will speak to me only of the truth of YOUR heart tonight. You are free here, before the King, who cares for you more than anyone, go on now, profess your love."
"Oh Thera." Vasha smiled recalling all the long, lonely times spent upon that godforsaken island. "My Queen. My Friend. Above you there is no other." his dark eyes glistened in the warm flicker of the oil lamps then he turned to Lacuna, taking her hand "My King! Vyakles. You will recall I, myself, had been denied my opportunity to take on a Themiscyran partner during that first, and only, breeding season between our two nations." here of course he was referring to Vyakles dismissing Vasha that night many years ago, whereupon the King came into Thera himself "I conceded to you, my lord, out of Unity, Loyalty, Respect and.., Love." he bowed slightly then stood tall saying "I had made myself chaste to Thera, and ALL her ladies, there upon the Island of Hera, for many, many years. Then I was set free from that remote place, returned to mother Greece, treated like a hero of the gods, had my fill of women and wine.., then it came to pass, I sailed back to Themiscyra, by order of my King and Queen. Upon my arrival Queen Odessa, in her benevolent wisdom, sent out a party of her finest warrior women to greet us, to feed and entertain us outside the walls along the shoreline of the Black Sea. Then it was.., Lacuna came out to me. She was astride her great steed, dressed in a billowing white silk garment, that you could just barely see through, her long red hair shining in the sun like rare strands of copper, her blue eyes lit up like stars, skin as smooth as rose petals, lips like wine." here he paused gazing upon his radiant beauty all of his words served only to make Lacuna blush. "Lacuna to me.., is like the sun, may she shine upon my face with the light of her love all the days of my life. Please do not deny me this chance to have, and hold, my beloved Warrior Bride!"
Vyakles looked over at Thera who had little tears of joy welling up in her eyes and he gazed out at his dear friend telling him "Vasha..," Vyakles cleared his throat for he too was a bit choked up. "I will not, nor will I allow anyone to, deny you the happiness, love and joy you so deserve. For you have proven your faith to this kingdom by more than word of mouth." Vyakles gave up a flashing smile and Vasha was sore relieved.
"My dearest Lacuna.., tell me the truth of your heart. Do you love Admiral Vasha?" Thera asked softly, directly.
"Yes." Lacuna replied with great delight in her sapphire eyes "For I tell you this, the fates have brought us together.., ALL of US together. I see now what it means to live outside the walls of our city. I see the love you two have established for each other, here in this great nation of freedom and family. For family is not something we are familiar with in our society. I observed something between you Thera, and your husband as you interact with your children.., and that is Love." here Lacuna began to weep softly wiping away her tears "When I came out to meet Vasha, he was so kind, and handsome and brilliant, we did lay ourselves together.., that first night, to our mutual satisfaction, so much so that when the sun arose the following day, I found I could not bear to leave the warmth of his arms and his bed. Admiral Vasha has come into me, freely.., in Themiscyra, upon his ship as we sailed to Greece upon the Sea.., and every night here in Sparta, Vasha has come into me." Lacuna now gave a sly smile, then a look as serious as the grave came over her face as she stood before the Spartan Throne proclaiming "Now I am a warrior, and there is no one more capable on the field of battle than me, as I am sure you ladies will agree.., however I feel I can no longer serve a society whose ideals, and ideas, I no longer believe. Now is the time to turn my ambition for glory in another direction. I must fight for my right to establish and have a family, like any normal human being! I will not give up my sons, I will not lay down my life in wartime ever again! If I can not raise my family, with my beloved by my side I would rather die! For to put asunder my family as a whole would be devastating, to do so would be to me, as if I had died already. There would be nothing left for me in my heart and mind, there would no future if my children did not have both their Mother and Father." Lacuna bowed her head holding her beloveds hand.
"My heart is deeply touched by the words of your mouth, and we thank you for letting the truth come out." Queen Thera said softly knowing how hard it was for Lacuna to voice her opinion on such heartfelt matters, for she was a true warrior hardened in battle.
"La Quint.., I shall ask you the same, are you in agreement with everything Admiral Vasha has said?" Vyakles spoke turning his attention to the next couple.
"It is all true, for I too have come into Lucia Vega more than once each night.., and day, since we first laid eyes upon one another, to me she is the rarest breed of woman, unlike I have ever known or seen, and I myself was extremely covetous and jealous when the marriages of the Themiscyran women and you lucky men transpired." La Quint paused then he said the following. "My body has been bathed by her lips and kisses of her enchantments, to send her away from me would be the most cruel punishment ever hurled my way, the very thought of which gives me such a pain it feels as though I have been stabbed in the heart!. If my brave Lucia can not be by my side, as my Warrior Bride, then you had better send me away as well." his words were as sharp as a sword as La Quint implored the King to heed and understand his cause.
"Lucia Vega.., you have been silent and have heard all you will hear from these men and your friend..," Thera said looking at her dearest friend who stood in a defiant stance as if she were receiving orders before deploying her troop into war. "What say you?"
Lucia Vega closed her eyes for a moment as she made a deep bow at the waist before the Spartan Throne then she lifted her up face as she stood as still as statue then she spoke "I myself have never known what this.., Love, is like, I may not be as skilled at this, than others, but I do know one thing.., and that is this, La Quint has proven to be an amazing gift from the gods and goddess to me. He is strong, brave, powerful, his eyes burn right through to my soul, when I feel the touch of his soft lips my heart beats so fast I fear it will explode. The thought of his child growing inside my body fills my mind with the wonderful possibilities of a new and different life, far removed from the life of war, and destruction, and death I have known 'lo these many years. The Fates have delivered General La Quint up to me.., like rare golden pearls stolen from the sea. To be with out this man in my life would be completely and utterly devastating. I beg you MY QUEEN! Do not take him, and my chance for a family, away from me! Allow me to live life, as you, yourself, live here in freedom. Allow me to have a husband, do not deny us this opportunity."
Vyakles looked over at his wife and as their eyes met they both reached out taking each other by the hand. A knowing look and a sweet smile of loving kindness was exchanged between them then Vyakles stood to his feet and this is what he said "Come.., kneel before me." all four went down in an instant looking up at the great King "You women come before my court with love in your heart, and children growing in your wombs, yet your fathers are not here, so I, as King of all Sparta, will act as your Kyrios, your male legal guardian, and in doing so shall act on your behalf during this engye, the betrothal agreement." Vyakles went over up close to each of the women as they gazed up at him from upon their knees "Do you agree to these terms?" each woman spoke not a word only shaking their heads yes. "I hereby now proclaim and pronounce you, Admiral Vasha of Sparta betrothed, in Holy Matrimony, to Captain Lacuna of Themiscyra." Vyakles saw their happy smiling faces and he knew it was a good thing to see. Then he said "General La Quint of Sparta.., I do proclaim and pronounce you hereby betrothed, in Holy Matrimony, to Captain Lucia Vega of Themiscyra. We shall prepare for the wedding ceremonies and feasts to be held this week!" here a relieved cheer arose from the newly betrothed couples as they kissed one another fully upon the mouth in front of the King, who turned to his wife Thera and said "There now.., are you well pleased, my beloved Queen?"
"Well pleased indeed!" Thera said as she arose embracing and congratulating the happy couples, but deep in her heart Thera was gravely worried for she knew she must inform Katarina and the Elite Guard in the morning with the news and Thera knew when Odessa found out about this there was sure to be trouble.
